What they say: Brow pencils have always been thought of as a make-up product, but Armani has gone against the grain with its latest invention. For the new Eye & Brow Maestro, the brand teamed up with L’Oréal hair scientists to create the perfect product to mimic the look of real hair.

What we say: Groomed brows dramatically change your face, adding instant definition, but traditional brow pencils and powders offer a matte finish rather than the slight shine that natural hair has - unlike this. Interestingly though, the natural shades in Armani's product can still work as eyeshadow or liner, however we recommend using them for washes of colour rather than strong, statement looks.

Usability: If you’re used to using a pencil, it can take a couple of attempts before you feel comfortable with the brush and cream formula. Essentially, it is more like an eyeshadow in consistency, so you need to start with a little and build up the colour using brushstrokes in the direction that your brows naturally grow. Short and swift movements are the easiest and don’t be too precious - natural brows are never perfect.

Results: Once you’ve mastered the application, you can really tell the difference between the finish of this product and those that have come before it: brows look more natural rather than drawn on. It’s the difference between good make-up and great make-up.

Insider tip: Brush up your brows before and after filling them in. Not only does it help with where to colour in, but it also offers a more natural finish.
